Chris Jones - Creating Guitar Solos For Banjo Instrumentals -
DVD
You've seen
guitar players who can make up a solo on
the spot and you've wondered how they do it. In this exciting DVD,
Chris Jones
shows you how to translate banjo instrumentals into guitar instrumentals by
replacing the fingerpicked banjo rolls with the more linear guitaristic
techniques - all the while maintaining the integrity of the
original banjo
rendition! Watch Chris as he analyzes and teaches 5 example songs, one step at a
time. This
"system" will allow you to invent your own intelligent solo for any
banjo instrumental you encounter!
Includes: "Fireball Mail, Dear Old Dixie,
Ruben, Cluck Old Hen, Lonesome Road Blues". Split-screen close-ups and on screen
graphics so you won't miss a lick!

Chris Jones - Creating Guitar Solos For Bluegrass Songs - DVD
Chris Jones has answered the question of a lot of flatpickers: "How do I play
guitar breaks for singing songs?" Chris plays the
tune and then sets up a
pattern of learning the melody first, followed by "embellishments" and "connector
licks". Split-screen close-ups and on-screen tab concepts in different
colors makes it really easy to see just
exactly how Chris is using connector
licks and embellishments to add to the melody - instead of replacing
the melody.
Chris also teaches various kickoffs which can be used in many other songs and he
touches on
"safe" notes and how to sketch out melodies. Chris is accompanied by
his wife Sally Jones on rhythm guitar
as he sings the songs and then tears them
apart for us to show how he created the exciting breaks he played!
Songs
include: "Shady Grove, Pig In a Pen, In the Pines, Bury Me Beneath the Willow,
Bridge to Portsmouth".
